What Is BA School Day?
BA School Day takes place on 1st November 2023 (Global BA Day). We’re encouraging BA practitioners to go into schools and give a short presentation about what business analysis is, either on the 1st of November, or another day that week that suits you and your school.

Why Is It Important?
Many practising BAs found the role entirely serendipitously. This suggests that there is a lack of awareness of business analysis. If people don’t know about the role, then it’s impossible for them to steer their career towards it:
“Like many BAs, I was doing business analysis before I knew it was an actual job. My first job was for a local authority, specifying, procuring and implementing new IT systems. It took years before I discovered there was a career path for business analysts.”
Christina Lovelock
“I worked for an insurance company and stumbled into business analysis. I was on an underwriting career path originally. It’s fortunate I found business analysis, as I love the profession so much. Plus I’d have been a lousy underwriter!”
Adrian Reed
Career planning starts early. Imagine if every school kid knew that business analysis was a career option that was open to them. Perhaps we’d have less of a BA skills shortage!
This is where the BA School Day Initiative comes in.
Not Sure Where To Start? We’ve Got You Covered
Contacting a school ‘out of the blue’ can be daunting, but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. On the BA School Day Initiative webpage, you’ll find:
- Suggested template emails ideas for contacting schools
- A social media kit, so you can help spread the word
In the future, nearer the day itself, we plan to add:
- Suggested topics for a presentation (flexible enough that you can adapt this based on your own experiences)
- A “skeleton” slide deck that you can adapt and adjust to your own needs
We’ve done some of the ‘heavy lifting’ to make it as easy as possible for you. All we ask is that you make a (free) pledge to show your support. That way, we can track the impact that the BA School Day has made, as we’ll know how many people have volunteered their time!

Want To Give Even More Help?
That’s awesome! We’d love it if you could help us spread the word. Why not create a ‘good news story’ by including details of your involvement in your organisation’s newsletter? Or by sharing details on social media.
If you’re a BA Manager why not consider giving paid time off to team members who are taking part in the BA School Day initiative?
If you’re a member of a professional association, why not contact their leaders and ask them to support or endorse our cause!
Who Is Behind the BA School Day Initiative?
